This Weekend in Worship
Preaching: Former Senior Pastor Dick Jessen
Sermon: "God’s Mission of Love"
In today's gospel lesson Jesus asks the disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” It was common in that day and society for people to receive their sense of identity from what others thought of them. Peter identifies Jesus as the Messiah, and Jesus declares that he will build his church on the rock of a declaration of faith like Peter's. The reading is our anniversary theme verse which declares Jesus as the cornerstone of the Church. All of this gives us a solid foundation for facing the future as Church.
