This Weekend in Worship
Preaching: Pastoral Intern Michelle Schultz!
Sermon: "Hard to Accept"
Jesus says that the bread he gives for the life of the world is his flesh, and whoever eats this bread has eternal life now and will be raised on the last day. We live in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us. The whole purpose of life is giving yourself for the other.
Scripture Readings: Psalm 148; John 6:35, 41-51 NRSV

Renewing God’s House Design Forum – Join us between services at 10 a.m. this Sunday, August 12 in the Fellowship Hall to see the latest Chancel Design Proposal. If you can’t join us this weekend, look for the drawings in the Narthex in the weeks after.
150 for 150 Food Drive – We’re off to a great start with our 150 for 150 Food Drive! During our first week we collected 317 food items and almost $190! Let’s keep up the good work!
Each weekend throughout the month of August, we want to honor our 150 years of doing God's Work with Our Hands by collecting at least 150 donations for the Linn Community Food Bank and HACAP Food Reservoir to support local hunger relief efforts. Simply bring your donations to the church when you come to worship! Don't know what to give? Read the Linn Community Foodbank Donations page.
About the series:
The Gospel readings from John 6 focus on Jesus as bread of life. Jesus physically feeds thousands of people with five loaves and two fish; and he describes himself as "the bread come from heaven to give life to the world"
It is not the adequacy of our supplies or our skills that make the difference in the world: it is the power of Jesus working through the littlest and least to transform our earth into the world God desires, a caring community where all the hungry are satisfied.
