This Week At First Lutheran

6/17/2020

9:00 a.m. Sunday Live Streaming Worship

Picture
Today we continue our series incorporating the thoughts and studies on the modern Lutheran Theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer; specifically those found in his book Life Together. These insights on what it means to be the Church living out lives as one body of Christ, paired with our Gospel readings, can have a lot to say about the current condition of our distressed society.

As a fun edition to doing "Life Together" even though we are apart, we are incorporating various members participating in worship via video. This week we have readers and musicians joining us from afar!  If you would be interested in helping us do Worship Together in this way, please sign up here.

Life Together Worship Series and Book Study
Our worship in June will focus around Jesus’ instructions to his disciples (and us) how to be the church together even when we are apart. In his inspiring book “Life Together,” Lutheran Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer encouraged his fellow Christians to be the body of Christ even when we can’t physically be together in an underground seminary during the Nazi years in WWII Germany.

Purchase a book wherever you buy books online and join us for this four week class starting 10 a.m. Sunday, June 7 on Zoom for practical advice on how we can do Life Together.

Henry Selk has created a fun way for us to do "Life together" as a church even when we're apart!

Check out this video, and download this flyer to see how you can participate in our Spiritual Scavenger Hunt and Food Drive to benefit our neighbors at the Loaves and Fishes food pantry.
