September 23-24, 2017

9/19/2017

This Weekend in Worship:

Preaching: Pastor Leroy Bradway
Sermon: 8 Questions for Life: "How does the Gospel motivate you? Finding a new me in Baptism"
How does God make the power of the Gospel personal?  Paul says that baptism is about being joined to Jesus, so that I gain a new sense of my identity as a child of God, forgiven, freed, and given new life.  The power of the Gospel is really about death and resurrection-God taking away everything that would separate me from God, and bringing to life everything that joins me to God.  Baptism makes God's new life personal.  I experience a new identity of what it means to be me in Christ.
Scriptures: Romans 6:1b-11; Matthew 10:24-31 NRSV
