This Weekend in Worship

Preaching: Pastor Steve Knudson
Sermon: "Come and See"
Sermon Synopsis: The invitation to faith is a gentle "Come and See."  Jesus invites the first disciples to come and see what he is about. From that moment, the work of the church has been an extension of this moment, an invitation from one person to another, to come and see the gracious work of God. Evangelism, invitation, is not coercive, but an invitation so that God's work of forgiveness, grace, mercy, and call may take place.

Scriptures:
 Isaiah 49:1-7; John 1:29-42 NRSV

Special Music:
9 a.m.:
Middle School Choir & Middle School Handbells
11 a.m.: High School Handbells

Prayer Cards & Shawls this Weekend – This weekend in worship you will have the opportunity to fill out a special prayer card. You may place the prayer card in the offering and the staff will pray for these concerns in the following week, or hang onto the card and bring it forward after the service to pray with one of our Pastors. Due to the limited space in the basement, we will not be doing anointing or have individual prayer stations during worship.
We will also have a wide variety of prayer shawls available in which you can be wrapped in prayer. These shawls are hand-made and prayed over, that they may comfort whoever receives them, so you can get one for yourself or take one for someone who needs it.

10:15 a.m. Sunday Morning Learning

Willis Dady Update - Come learn about the ministry and outreach of Willis Dady Homeless Services. As part of our building campaign, we gave a major gift to assist with the expansion of their shelter house just a couple blocks away, and they have also taken charge of the winter emergency overflow shelter. Come meet and learn from Executive Director Phoebe Trepp.

“By Heart” a course of Lutheran Basics is taking place during the 10:15 a.m. Sunday Morning Learning Time  now through Feb. 9. This study, born out of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation movement, combines the writings of some of today’s brightest Lutheran minds and Martin Luther’s original small catechism. The class is free. No sign-up necessary.

10:15 a.m. Children's Options

Children Ages 6 months to 4 years may use our nursery on the lower level.
Children Ages 3-4 check in at the bottom of the stairs by the Administrative Entrance for Preschool Sunday School.
Children Grades K-3rd check at the top of the stairs by the Administrative Entrance for Kidzone.
Children Grades 4th & 5th check in at the top of the stairs by the Administrative Entrance for Connect 45.

Willis Dady Pie the Pastor Supply Drive — Willis Dady Homeless Services provides shelter and prevention services to the homeless and near-homeless by empowering clients to become self-sufficient and break the cycle of homelessness. During this time of year their services are in high demand and they often run short on necessary supplies.
To help out, go to narthex Giving Board and obtain a giving tag. The tag will indicate a supply to be brought back on or before Feb. 9. Each returned supply tag will give you a vote for which Pastor (or Pastoral intern) that will receive a pie in the face on Feb. 16.  If we collect all the needed supplies we will pie all three!
To learn more about the Willis Dady Ministry & Mission, come to the Sunday Morning Learning, detailed below!
