Love and forgiveness is at the cornerstone of a community of believers.  It's the cornerstone of all trusting relationships really.  I teach couples in pre-marital counseling that when we pray the Lord's prayer and say, "(God), forgive us as we forgive those who trespass (or sin) against us," we are really praying for God to forgive us (or not) to the degree which we are willing to forgive our fellow human beings.  When we are able to bravely do this, God makes us front row witnesses to some amazing events in our lives like Joseph experienced.
