Special Collection this Weekend

​Freedom from Hunger Food Drive this weekend and next. The Hunger Team has chosen to hold our annual collection for the Freedom from Hunger Food Drive on August 5-6 and 12-13 this year. Large, “#10 size” cans will be used for our monthly Mission of Hope meals, smaller cans will be donated to the Linn County Food Bank, and cash donations will be given to HACAP food reservoir.

Synopsis:  Isaiah invites those who have no money to come and eat! 
We make that same invitation in 2017 at First Lutheran to hundreds of people a year on Saturday nights. A man from the Midwest in our generation, Norman Borlaug, is known as "the father of the Green Revolution." He is credited with saving over a billion people worldwide from starvation and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970 in recognition of his contributions to world peace through increasing food supply.  Is this not Christ working miracles today through our human efforts?
