I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, When we say “His only Son,” that means we as Christians believe Jesus is God’s only Son just as God says He is many times in the Bible.
Matthew 17:5 5 But even as he spoke, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy. Listen to him.”

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. The first Article of the Apostles' Creed describes God. We state that God is the Creator of heaven and earth. Meaning, God created everything around us, the universe, the earth, everything-- including us! Read Genesis 1:1- How does God's creation show you God's power? God's creativity? God's ability to plan details? Does this statement bring up any questions? Is there room for evolution in this statement? Be sure to take a look at the Faith Statement book and Last night we had our Family Night for Confirmation Ministry and we started the process of writing a Family Faith Statement as well as our youth writing their statements for their Affirmation of Baptism in the fall of their 9th grade year. It was a fun night and we will continue the process of writing a faith statement in the coming weeks and you can follow at home as well as with this blog! If you were unable to make the meeting last night please stop by the church sometime before Wednesday and pick up your folder with the information and packets for the Faith Statements. Your youth will need to bring with their copy of their packet each of the following weeks to ensure they are able to build on their writings from the previous weeks. Here is some information on why Faith Statements and family faith conversations are an important part of the Confirmation Ministry here at First Lutheran Church! There is much research done recently regarding who faith sticks with youth after high school. Many studies have come back with the much of the same information: Families Matter. More specifically family faith practices matter. Everything from worship practices, to faith conversations. We get what we are, when it comes to our youth's faith.
