Milestones is a series of classes (three classes every year at every age level from birth through 5th grade) that educate children on the whos, whats, whys, and hows of the faith, and equips parents as the primary developers of faith in their children. From Bible classes once a year beginning at Kindergarten, to lively discussions about worship; experiential sessions on prayer and spiritual practices, to Communion instruction, church history, and stewardship.
Milestones classes will occur during their regular class time on Sunday mornings. Milestones classes happen only once per quarter—so three classes per year total. In order for Milestones to be effective, at least one parent is required to attend the class sessions with their child(ren).

Discipleship is not only a Core Value at First Lutheran, but it is also part of the Mission and Vision of Children and Family Ministries. It was foremost to Jesus’ ministry, and it ought to be foremost on the list of priorities of his followers. We recognize that the number one influence on a child’s faith is you, their parents. Children who have parents that are directly involved in their faith development are far more likely to become
life-long disciples than those whose parents are absent from that process.
In the waters of baptism the parents and the congregation pledge to one another, and to the baptized, to work together to provide opportunities and pathways to faith formation. As a congregational family we are working diligently at upholding our part of that promise, and we hope you will join us.
