Share a high and a low from the past week.
Answer the following questions as an opener to the discussion:
Why do you think generous people are happier?
What keeps you from thinking your generosity can help other people?
In him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.
Everything was created through him;
nothing—not one thing!--
came into being without him.
What came into existence was Life,
and the Life was Light to live by.
The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness;
the darkness couldn’t put it out.
When John describes Jesus as the “Light of all people,” what do you think he means?
Why is being generous typically a one-time thing, not a continuous thing?
What are some ways you can be generous without giving money?
What are some benefits you experience for being generous?
Lord, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and not to ask for reward,
save that of knowing that I do your will.
Use the following to bless each other.
(Name), you are a child of God.
