Serve alongside your fellow Lutherans
The ELCA’s annual national day of service is coming up fast and we have some exciting, safe, and family friendly local projects for you to participate in. Which is your favorite?
Roll up your sleeves and donate onsite at First Lutheran to save lives! Our local blood bank will set up a donation station in our Luther Fellowship Center downstairs. Click on this link to make your appointment from 1-3:30 p.m. We're looking for 12 volunteers. Almost all blood types are in urgent need. Our blood drive will provide a critical resource that helps save lives at our local hospitals and across our region. All presenting donors will receive a $10 gift card or a free long-sleeved Blood Center pullover.
Food Service Coordinator Ruth Ehrhardt needs 2-4 people from 9-11 a.m. to help make lunch to feed all of our helpers later that day. We also need 2-4 people to make cereal bars or cookie dough and package for future use at 1-3 p.m. Not available on Sept. 12? No problem. Ruth could also use a couple volunteers on Thursday, September 23 as an extension of God’s Work, Our Hands Sunday.
Pick Up Our Parks
FLC Member Jim Kennedy will lead us in cleaning up our area parks around our church. Following lunch and instructions at FLC, this group will head to Redmond Park at 1 p.m. for trash pick-up, proceed to Green Square Park and last, go to Bever Park working along the Bever Ave. area of the park. We'll finish up around 3 p.m. Jim’s looking for at least 8 helpers. People would need to wear shoes and clothing that would allow you to work outdoors. No heavy lifting would be involved but a fair amount of walking. Hats and gloves are recommended. Great for kids.
