Jesus and the disciples sure walked at lot! If we want to be Christlike, this may be part of it. Walking slows you down. It clears your mind. Walking gives you time to pray.
Take a prayer walk in your neighborhood, or in a place you often visit, like the grocery store or the mall. It can be an apartment complex or the place where you live.
As you walk, pray for everyone who lives there. Pray for each of the houses and schools, the families and the visitors. If you go with a partner, one of you may pray for the right side of the street, the other for the left. Walk quietly and "think" your prayer to God.
You might ask Jesus to walk through the neighborhood with you. (God is already doing it, but asking may help you to realize it!) Pray for God's presence, peace and protection to blanket the area. Pray that the neighborhood will be infused with Christ's presence.
Share what you prayed for. If God’s mission is for all in the city, how can First Lutheran Church connect with the place you walked? What is God telling you?
