Saturday Evening Meal Program (S.E.M.P.)

This meal continues to be a cornerstone of our outreach downtown and has been for a number of years.  Each Saturday night from 4:30-5:30 p.m. anywhere from 80 to 175 people from the community around us line up for a delicious hot meal cooked and served by the faithful people of FLC.  People like you make up 13 different teams who volunteer to cover three shifts each week: Cooking 1-3:30 p.m., Serving 3:30-5:30 p.m., and Clean-up 4:30-6 p.m.  Please contact Barb Hanson  on our Staff Contact page to participate.

SEMP Store

This fantastic outreach takes place once a month, at 4:30 p.m. on the last Saturday.  Your donations provide things that people need to live that are not covered by food stamps such as toliet paper and toothpaste.  Mike and Maria Byrant's family have faithfully headed this effort.  Contact Vicki Hughes on the Staff Contact page to make a donation.

Mission of Hope

This wonderful partnership between First Lutheran and the nearby Mission of Hope grew deep roots during the Flood of '08.  Once a month people like you give up their lunch hour to serve a meal to 100-120 people.  Various members of our church buy the food, cook it, deliver it to the mission, and serve it to those in need from 12-1 p.m on the 4th Thursday of the month.   

Wilis Dady

This is our latest exciting addition to our meal outreach.  Once a month people like you prepare, deliver, and serve a meal at 12 p.m. for about 25 people staying at the Wilis Dady shelter.  Contact Vicki Hughes on the Staff Contact page to get involved.   

Solice Servers

In a timeless tradition, women like you have provided healing and solice to those who have lost loved ones by bringing salads & desserts, serving them with a comforting smile, and lovingly cleaning up following memorial services here at the church.  Contact Vicki Hughes on the Staff Contact page to put you in touch with Sue Olmstead and Joan Rust who lead this important effort.
