We believe God has placed First Lutheran in the heart of the city for a special purpose: to show the heart of God’s love for all in the city.
First Lutheran is a sign of God’s grace and a community serving God’s mission. Each of the ministries and opportunities at First Lutheran offers a pathway to journey in faith. I invite you to explore what is offered and find your place in this community. This site is organized around the ways people experience God: through welcome, learning, serving and worship.
Every opportunity is open to all. Please use the contact information provided, to find out more or participate. So take your time. Look around. Be our guest! Be sure to ask if you have any questions. Check out the welcome desk or call the church office any time.
Pastor Steven Knudson,
What to Expect
When you come to First Lutheran, you'll find people of all ages engaging in ministry. We believe people of all ages need to be in worship together and have made our services to be welcoming to kids.
We believe you're never to old to be growing in faith and offer Sunday Morning Learning for children, youth and adults almost every week. Check out the "This Weekend" page to find out what is going on right now.
To be honest, we're probably a bit shy so we won't hound you if we don't recognize you; but if you have a question, just ask. You will find a friendly answer.
What is there for Kids and Youth?
We believe faith formation starts in foundational years so right from the beginning we offer a nursery for kids ages 6-months through four years old which is available all morning on Sundays, as well as Wednesday evenings and for some special events. Our trained, screened nursery staff will engage your youngsters in play and biblical-based activities.
In Sunday Morning Worship we offer activity bags and children's bulletins to keep young minds engaged. We also have a Children's Chat for kids age 4-8 so they can go out during the sermon and hear a message in a close environment that is at their level of understanding.
During our Sunday morning learning times we have classes or forums for preschool through high school. Check out the pages under the "Connect" tab for more information and special events.
