interactive session to introduce some
thought provoking “visioning” questions for
us to think about as we move into the fall
congregation involvement phase that will
carry us through to the Holidays in
• What do you see as the guiding
principle for FLC?
• What makes you drive by other ELCA
churches to come to FLC?
• What drove you to FLC in the first place?
• Being “in the Heart of the City” ... what
exactly does that mean to you and to our
mission From God?
These were just a few of the eight top-level
questions Locus wants to hear us answer as
they formulate design concepts to present
sometime in early 2016.
In conjunction with Locus’ visit, Pastor
Steve commenced a short sermon series
Renewing God’s House – Renewing God’s
People. Special guest Pastor Rick Rouse
joined this series just last weekend,
September 20, to help center our visioning
The “dual approach” of considering the
Building Project and Vision Discernment
simultaneously will come together into one
plan for the building our ministries to carry
out God’s mission for FLC. It will be
exciting and YOU will have several
opportunities to participate and have your
voices heard, some of which Pastor Steve
laid out in the cover article.
I also want to take this opportunity to

Building Committee: Mike Humbert, Jackie
Moore and Justin Schaefer.

that a Building Committee Suggestion Box
is in the Narthex and on the FLC website for
any and all ideas that may arise. We have
received some very good comments from a
number of you already via the Suggestion
Box and those inputs have been shared with
the Committee. Please keep your voice
