| Former Iowa Football star Lew Montgomery will highlight Father’s Day weekend at First Lutheran Church. The All-Big Ten running back will speak at worship services. In addition, men and boys can sign up for a special dinner “Fatherhood, Football, and Faith” 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 16th. A plated meal will served. Cost is $12 per person, $30 maximum charge per family. All proceeds will benefit Lew's charity. Both the worship services and the banquet are open to the public.
Lew Montgomery, a native of Waterloo, IA, was an All-Big Ten fullback for the Iowa Hawkeye Football team. Lew rushed for 1,093 yards, scored 17 touchdowns, played in the Rose Bowl (1990 season), and played for the 1991 team that finished with a record of 10-1-1. He was a team captain at Iowa and was named to the Iowa High School Hall of Fame in 2009. He currently works with Alliant Energy.

| Lew is married to his wife Stacey of 19 years. Stacey and Pastor Craig’s wife, Katie, teach together at College Community Schools. Lew and Stacey have 3 daughters: Mariah, Chelsey, and Hailee, and a 14 year-old son, Lucas, who is currently living with a rare enzyme condition called Sanfilippo Syndrome . Lew and Stacey have led several non-profit organizations in the Cedar Rapids community for the National MPS Society including an annual golf tournament “Links for Lucas” and an annual 5K fun run/walk at Cedar Rapids Prairie. |

Golf League Tees Up On Mondays
The First Lutheran Church Men’s Golf League will begin play on Monday, May 7, at Gardner Golf Course. You can mail in or drop off your registration fee of $25 in the church office. Please be sure to clearly indicate that it’s your golf league registration fee. We will make sure to get you marked off on our league records. |

Men Discover Christ through The Matrix
"Agents" Jason Clapp, Phil Neville, Kurt Pulzinski, Travis Peterson, and Pastor Craig welcomed 25 men to discover Christ through the lens of the sci-fi blockbuster movie, "The Matrix." The men will continue to tour the movie 7-8 p.m. Wednesdays in May in the Luther Fellowship Center. Please join us!

A group of 10 people from First Lutheran filled a table at the "Big Magic Breakfast" on Wednesday, April 25th at the Cedar Rapids Marriot. We heard fun stories from mentors and kids in the Big Brothers Program. We helped raise thousands of dollars and encouraged people to personally get involved with this amazing community resource. Thanks to First Lutheran member Kevin Bruns for organizing the effort!
