Adult Education 2007-08
Our mission is the mission of the church, to "Know Christ and make him known." We do this by offering a variety of courses for people in all stages of their faith walk, either new to the faith or who have walked with Jesus their entire lives. We offer discussion of current events, in depth Bible study, explorations of our spirituality, and offerings that help keep our body and mind whole among other things. Please join us as we explore our faith together.
If you would be interested in joining the Adult Education Ministry Team, leading a discussion or study, or would like to suggest a topic or speaker please contact Jim Kennedy at 365-5530 or Brian Middleswarth at 365-1494 or brianm@firstlutherancr.org

9:30 a.m. in the Chapel, Sundays Nov. 4, 11, 25 Loaves And Fishes-Dr. Chris Seeman, Coe College Jesus’ miraculous feeding of the multitudes is one of the best-known gospel stories. In fact, it is one of the few deeds of Jesus that is reported by all four evangelists. But what can we make of this story today? Do we hear it differently than its original hearers? In this series, Dr. Chris Seeman will do more than share his thoughts on this. He will introduce us to the tools biblical scholars use to unlock the meaning of this powerful story, and show us how to use those tools ourselves in our ongoing encounter with God’s word.

If you would like to learn more about this ancient method of reading and interacting with the scriptures please see the article on the Spiritual Transformation Page in this newsletter and join Marcie Watson in the Chapel on November 18th at 9:30 am during the Adult Education Hour.

Winter Weather Cancellations
It is our practice to cancel Confirmation and children’s choirs if Cedar Rapids schools are closed or dismiss early due to weather. All other groups, events or services, will meet as scheduled. Use your best judgment. If you don't feel safe going out in inclement weather, stay home. We understand, and so does God. If there are additional cancellations, we will also post them at the top of our website, or you can call the church office to be updated.
